Cursor jumping around on its own, trackpad not clicking, gestures dead, or the whole touchpad frozen? Symptoms
Cursor, click and gesture faults, plus one important safety check we run every time.
Physical click gone, feels stuck, or presses but nothing registers. Often a worn click mechanism or, important, a swollen battery pushing up from underneath. We check for that every time, because it’s a safety issue as much as a repair.
Pointer leaps around, moves on its own, or ignores your finger. Can be a failing touchpad, a connector fault, or interference, diagnostics pins it down.
No response at all. We test the ribbon cable, connector and pad itself before replacing anything; sometimes it’s a £0 driver fix, and we’ll tell you if so.
Two-finger scroll or pinch gone, taps not registering. Driver-level or hardware, we identify which.

If the pad is raised or the case is separating, stop using the laptop. This is the classic sign of a swollen battery and needs battery replacement urgently.
